Morning Rush

One of my New Year resolutions was to wake up at 7:00 AM and have breakfast with my morning coffee. A new expectation, but I wake up every morning at 8:30, with thirty minutes to go through my entire routine, out the door and in my car by 9:15 and at my desk by 10:00. There are mornings when I do not have time to make breakfast. To keep this resolution, I decided I would have a smoothie for breakfast. Smoothies are quick, easy and takes less than five minutes to prep. Every other Sunday, I prepare up to two weeks of smoothie ingredients and place in the freezer. So, all I do is place the frozen ingredients and liquids in the blender then go brush my teeth. Here are three go-to smoothies for the morning rush days.

Until next time… Kali

Creamy Spirulina Green Smoothie

1 cup raw spinach

½ cup blueberries

½ banana

¼ avocado

1 teaspoon spirulina (I use Pure Hawaiian Spirulina powder)

½ cup almond milk

¼ cup water (substitute: coconut water)

Blend all ingredients then top with chia seeds

Strawberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

½ cup strawberries

½ banana

¼ avocado

2 cups raw spinach

1 cup Greek yogurt (substitute: coconut milk yogurt)

1 tsp chia seeds

4-5 ice cubes

½ - 1 medjool date (optional)

Blend all ingredients. If you like a touch of sweetness, add the medjool date

Tropical Cream Smoothie

½ cup Simply Orange juice

¼ cup water (substitute: coconut water)

¼ cup frozen pineapple

¼ cup frozen mango

½ banana

1 serving protein powder (I use Garden of Life Raw Organic Vanilla)

Blend all ingredients.
